KARACHI, Jan 17: The Pakistan Sports Trust (PST) has placed the services of office secretaries in a couple of National Sports Federations (NSF) in order to improve their working on professional lines.

Their placement was preceded by one month probation period which envisaged training in accounting and office management conducted at Islamabad, Karachi and Lahore after they have successfully passed the written test.

The candidates were entitled to get Rs 15,000 apiece for one month probation and will now receive Rs 20,000 for the remaining period of one year contract.

Information gathered by Dawn reveals that with the exception of Shafiq Uddin, assigned to Pakistan Swimming Federation, the remaining 11 candidates have passed the test.

The kabaddi, rowing, volleyball and weightlifting federations have already submitted their satisfactory reports pertaining to their paid office secretaries while reports from athletics, badminton, cycling, karate, table tennis, wrestling and wushu are awaited.

It is pertinent to mention that the top official of PST and POA, Lt Gen Syed Arif Hasan, in the recent past, has expressed his displeasure over the working of the NSF which was not being run and governed professionally according to him.

The PST has also provided the software to enable the NSF maintain their accounts properly.
