Upgradation of KKH to begin soon

GILGIT, Jan 26: Karakurum Highway (KKH) upgradation would start shortly and in this regard an inaugural ceremony would be held next month in Islamabad.

This was stated by Information Adviser Capt (retired) Sikandar Ali while talking to reporters here on Friday.

He said the Northern Areas had been put on the path of progress due to the efforts of President Pervez Musharraf and the development of this far-flung region would gain momentum in days to come, he added. Mr Ali said work on KKH project would begin shortly and all out efforts would be made to complete the project in time.

He said the inauguration ceremony of KKH upgradation would be held on February 8 and added that the project would bring economic revolution in the area.

The adviser said the Northern Areas were being linked with Azad Kashmir roads to boost business and tourism activities in this remote part of the region.—APP
