HYDERABAD, Jan 30: Pakistan Peoples Party candidate for NA-231 (Jamshoro district) Ghani Talpur has filed a complaint with the Election Commission about alleged violation of election rules.

In the complaint, a copy obtained by Dawn, Mr Talpur alleged that the Jamshoro police have been harassing the people at the behest of the ‘government-backed’ candidates. He added that the police have arrested the people in blind FIRs for their alleged involvement in riots in wake of Benazir Bhutto’s assassination.

Mr Talpur alleged that the people are being released after paying bribes. He appealed to the chief election commissioner to probe into the matter and direct the DPO Jamshoro to stop political victimisation and release those arrested.
