Kamran, Umar join IPL

LAHORE, Feb 2: Pakistan wicket-keeper Kamran Akmal and paceman Umar Gul have joined the Indian Premier League (IPL), the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Director Media and Marketing Ahsan Hameed Malik said on Friday.

Shoaib Malik, Shoaib Akhtar, Shahid Afridi, Mohammad Asif, Younis Khan and Mohammad Yousuf have already signed the IPL contracts.

Kamran and Umar will get 175,000 dollars each for featuring in the IPL.

Kamran, 25, has represented Pakistan in 38 Tests and 80 one-dayers while Umar has played 16 Tests and 39 limited-overs games.

Yousuf will get a 330,000-dollar contract, Malik 300,000 while Shoaib Akhtar, Afridi, Younis and Asif will earn 225,000 dollars each.

Meanwhile, Yousuf has left it to the PCB and Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI) to bail him out of his dispute with the unofficial Indian Cricket League (ICL).

The next hearing of the case comes up sometime later this month. Yousuf has been allowed to participate in the IPL bidding process on Feb 8.—Agencies
