KARACHI: Work on Gulshan sewer begins

KARACHI, Feb 5: The town nazim of Gulshan-i-Iqbal, Mohammad Wasay Jalil, has urged the town residents to avoid throwing garbage, plastic bags and oil in sewage lines.

He was inspecting various ongoing development schemes in different union councils of the town along with Town Naib Nazim Shoaib Akhtar, TMO Shafiqur Rahman, SE (water) Zaheer Abbas and other officials.

The Gulshan town nazim said that the work on the new sewage lines from Safoora Chowrangi to Saadi Town in Union Council-13, Scheme 33 had been started. He said Rs50 million would be spent on this project.

He said that the area people were facing immense difficulties due to a lack of a proper sewerage system. At the completion of various projects, the sewerage system would be improved, he said.

Under the programme, sewage lines will be laid in a number of areas including KESC Society, Saadi Town, Yar Mohammad Goth, Soomro Society, Central Information Society and Saadat Amroha Society.

He also inspected cleanliness work at Sachal Goth, Maroira Goth, Mohammad Khan Goth and other areas of the town.

Jamshed Town

The nazim of Jamshed Town, Javed Ahmed, inspected the town workshop at Mehmoodabad.

He highlighted the importance of the use of machinery in the modern era and directed the official concerned to make proper arrangements regarding maintenance of vehicles.

“Keeping in mind the importance of machinery, we have increased the number of vehicles in the town to collect and dump wastage and achieved very positive results,” he said.

TMO Sarwar Ahmed Memon, TO infrastructure Abdus Salim Memon, DTO M&E Rafiq Kandro and other officials were also present.—PPI
