Published February 17, 2008

KARACHI, Feb 16: The Sindh governor, Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan, on Saturday ordered the relevant authorities to take immediate steps for the conversion of auto-rickshaws to CNG and to bring them in conformity to the environmental demands by June 2010.

He also ordered a waiver on penalties imposed in case of a delayed registration.

Dr Ibad was talking to a delegation of Auto-Rickshaw Association, which called on him at the Governor’s House.

He directed the officials concerned to publicise CNG conversion through newspapers and all companies be allowed to join the drive.

The Sindh governor said that the rickshaw owners should be allowed to get CNG conversion work done from any established company.

Dr Ibad also ordered to check the sale of sub-standard mobil oil.—APP
