HYDERABAD, Feb 21: Workers of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) staged a sit-in outside Sakhi Pir police station late on Wednesday night after participants of a rally resorted to aerial firing outside the residence of a party activist.

The PPP activists led by Syed Fayyaz Ali Shah staged a sit-in after gunshots were fired during a rally outside the house of Shahid Narnoli in Liaquat Colony. They gathered there and demanded registration of an FIR against the activists of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) for aerial firing.

However, their FIR was not lodged by SHO Sakhi Pir police station.

Shah told Dawn that the firing caused panic among residents. He said police had been victimising Shahid Narnoli and had challaned him in a false case. He further said the MQM activists resorted to aerial firing while police blamed Shahid Narnoli for it.
