KARACHI, Feb 26: Two people, including an exorcist, were killed in different parts of the city on Tuesday.

An elderly exorcist, Shabbir Alam, also known as Itter Walay Baba, was found shot dead in his house in Sector-A, Orangi Town. Police said that the faith healer was alone in his Hujra (compartment) when unknown assailants shot him dead.

The body was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre. Hospital sources said the victim was shot a single bullet to his head from a very close range as it went through his skull.

Police have registered a murder case on the complaint of the victim’s son, Peer Mohammed.

In Nazimabad, a sanitary worker was found slaughtered in the school where he was employed.

Shahrah-i-Noor Jehan police shifted the body to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. Sources said the victim’s throat was slit.

Police said that the victim had estranged relations with his wife, who was not living with him for the past six months.

Body formed

The Capital City Police Officer, Niaz Ahmed Siddiqui, taking strong notice of the involvement of private security guards in the bank robberies in the city, has constituted a committee to conduct an inquiry into the matter, adds PPI.

The committee to work under the supervision of the deputy inspector-general, Zone East, Salman Syed, will comprise SPP Anti-Violent Crime Unit (AVCU), SP Gulshan and the head of the All Pakistan Security Agencies Association (APSAA).

The body will thoroughly review the recently incidents of bank robberies committed in the city in which security guards deployed at the banks were found involved.

On the basis of the study, the team will make suggestions to formulate a future strategy to check the crime.

Meanwhile, the capital city police officer has ordered strict security measures in the city on the occasion of the Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) to be observed on Feb 28.

The CCPO has ordered all the DIGs of the three zones, TPOs, SPOs, SHOs to carry out strict snap checking, enhance police patrolling and reactivate surveillance network for the purpose.

Police officials have also been ordered to tighten security measures at all entry and exit points of the city, at important installations and around the places of worship in their respective areas.
