SUKKUR: PML-F workers granted bail

By Our Correspondent

SUKKUR, Feb 26: The Sukkur bench of the Sindh High Court on Tuesday granted bail before arrest to 91 activists of Pakistan Muslim League-F, who were booked by Khairpur police on Feb 18 on charges of attacking polling stations and committing large-scale rigging.

The division bench comprising Justice Dr. Rana Mohammad Shamim and Justice Syed Pir Ali Shah granted them bail before arrest as heavy contingent of police awaited outside the court to put them under arrest.

Police stations of Kotdiji and Khairpur had booked the 91 who were among 270 Pakistan Mulsim League (Functional) activists facing charges of attacking polling stations, snatching ballot boxes and papers, maltreating polling staff and polling agents of their rival parties.

Talking to newsmen, Khairpur District Nazim Syed Niaz Hussain Shah, who was present in the court, advised the PPP to show restraint and patience after getting victory in elections and not fall to the temptation to get revenge. They should not resort to political victimisation of other political workers, he said.

He said that the winners should respect people’s trust that they have put in them and not become part of the conspiracy to pit people of Sindh against each other.

He condemned what he called attempts to create uncertainty and feared it would force people to take to streets and stage demonstrations.
