HYDERABAD: Afaq’s call

HYDERABAD, Feb 26: Mohajir Qaumi Movement chairman Afaq Ahmed has called upon President Musharraf to resign, saying that he has no moral ground to cling to power after former ISI director Gen Ehtisham Zamir’s disclosure that general elections 2002 were rigged under the orders of Gen Musharraf.

In a hand-written statement faxed to Dawn from Karachi central jail, Mr Ahmed said that the people had rejected President Musharraf’s policies in the February 18 general elections. He cautioned the Urdu-speaking people and the power brokers to beware of alleged conspiracies of Muttahida Qaumi Movement to again create bloodshed.—BoC
