ISLAMABAD, Feb 29: Speakers at a seminar on Friday said the poetry of great Sufi poet Shah Abdul Latif was embodiment of love peace and brotherhood and it had a universal message for all times and ages.
The seminar was arranged by Pakistan Academy of Letters (PAL) in collaboration with Shah Abdul Latif Cultural organization to pay homage to the great poet.
The speakers stressed the need of spreading his message among people, especially among the younger generation. They said his poetry comprised extreme love for the Allah Almighty and also for the humanity.
They said he represented the weak and suppressed section of the society and through his poetry he created the living images. His characters were the common people, any layman can identify himself with his characters, the speakers said.
His poetry talks about life, it talks about the pain and misery of the suppressed. His expression and description of characters was wonderful so much so that people can relate themselves with the characters, they said adding his poetry and thoughts are absorbed even in the small territories of Sindh as he is alive in hearts of people. People of Sindh adore him for his services to society.
His efforts were for the reformation of the society, he condemned the discrimination that existed in his contemporary society, said Prof Dr M Qasim Jan, Vice Chancellor Quaid-i-Azam University.
He was not only the great poet of Sindh but also of the subcontinent. His greatness and poetic philosophy is not limited to Sindh but the translation of his poetry spread to the Subcontinent.
