LAHORE, March 4: Wapda with 195 points won the 17th national seniors karate championship while Punjab seizing 30 points emerged as the junior champions at the end of the two-day national event in Sialkot.

Wapda claimed seven gold and three silver medals to top the points table. Army with three gold and silver and five bronze medals accumulated 130 points to earn the runners-up spot.

Sindh came third with 65 points followed by Balochistan (35 points), Punjab (30), NWFP (25), Police (25), Railways (15) and Islamabad (5) who claimed the other six positions.In the juniors sections, Wapda earned the second spot with 25 points. Balochistan (15), NWFP (10), Army (10), Railways (5), Islamabad (5) and Police (5) were the other participants.

Below 50kgs: Faisal Shahzad (Army); Mohammad Kashif (Wapda), Munir Ahmed (Balochistan).

Below 55kgs: Juma Khan (Wapda), Kaleem Danial (Police), Abu Hurayra (Sindh).

Below 60kgs: Saadi Abbas (Wapda), Naimatullah (Balochistan), A Jabbar Khan (Sindh).

Below 65kgs: Baz Mohammad (NWFP), Imtiaz Ali (Army), Qasim Nawab (Railways).

Below 70kgs: Shaukat Ali (Wapda), Hamid Bakhtiar (Sindh), Mirza Arslan Baig (Railways).

Below 75kgs: Adil Jan (Army), Ain-ud-Din (Wapda), Zahid Mehmood (Punjab).

Below 80kgs: Majid Khan (Army), Agha Mohammad (Wapda), Asif Khan (Punjab).

Above 80kgs: Abdul Raziq (Wapda), Amir Waqar (Army), Abdul Rashid (Punjab). Team kumite: Wapda, Sindh, Police. Team kata: Wapda, Army, Punjab.
