LAHORE, March 8: Three-year-old bay filly Heaven’s Heart, who shared her March 2 victory with Janu, will be on the course to make it a two in-a-row when the 28th Lahore Winter Meeting gets underway at the Racecourse on Sunday. She is contesting in the Mohy-ud-Din Mohammad Aurangzeb Alamgir Cup, a class five event to be gone over 1,300 metres.

In a late burst of speed, the filly from Tripple Eight out-of-Pink Bouqette, Heaven’s Heart collared her one-year senior filly Janu at the finishing line to end the race in a tie between the two fillies.

Ties between two horses are not such a rare occurrence since the introduction of the photo finish camera at the Lahore Race Club (LRC).

Heaven’s Heart, who resembles her England-bred mother Pink Bouqet, had been showing consistent improvement since being placed third behind Hallow Handsome and Deja Vu on Feb 24.

Houstan, Munsaf and Jung Frau are prominent among her closest rivals in the fourth race.

There are 11 acceptors in the supporting event, the Evernew Plate class IV division II and III, to be contested over the sprinting distance of 1,000 metres. The five-year-old mare Chill is the fastest among them. Placed fourth, behind Quwat, Poly Cat and Harry Can View in the over 1,200 metres race on Feb 24, she should be making her presence felt in this fifth race on the card. Vendetta and Chanela are the next best in the same order.

Jan-e-Bhakkar, Love Minister and Last Option look good in the second race with the first one having an edge over the others.

Going by their recent performances, Alishba and Byron look equally good to pick up the spoils in the third race. The distance goes in favour of Byron but he may be slightly slower.

The three-year-old bay colt from Putra out-of-Trigo Wing, Zubair Prince, who was defeated by the filly Sweet Lady on Feb 17, should make amends this time by winning in the sixth and last race of the day. He is contesting in the Mohy-ud-Din Mohammad Aurangzeb Alamgir Plate, to be gone over 1,300 metres. Sweet Lady, Wonderful Smile and Will He Wish are among his noteworthy rivals.

Some 60 competitors have been accepted for the six-event card. Three races will be contested in the over 1,000 metres distance race while the other three would be over 1,300 metres.

The first race will be held at 1.00pm.
