THATTA, March 13: The EDO revenue has cancelled allotment of 1,878 acres of un-surveyed land in Deh Gharo, taluka Mirpur Sakro, previously allotted to some 50 people, mostly from Karachi.
EDO Nasir Abbas Soomro, taking suo motu notice of fraudulent and fabricated entries in the record of right (form-VII) and change of ownership deeds of state land in the name of private Khatedars took action under section 164 of the Sindh Land Revenue Act 1967 under the directives of the Sindh Board of Revenue and restored the status of the land as state property.
The EDO told Dawn that the revenue department had recommended action against those Mukhtiarkars and Tapedars with whose connivance the state land was transferred to private persons.
He said that the revenue officer had sought public cooperation to apprise the department about any such frauds in Sindh, particularly after December 27, 2007 assassination of PPP leader Benazir Bhutto.
