Peshawar to Islamabad cycle race

Published March 15, 2008

LAHORE, March 14: The NWFP association will be organising the first cycle race under the newly-introduced policy of provincial cycling associations holding an annual national-level event.

Scheduled for April 20, the Peshawar to Islamabad race, according to Secretary Pakistan Cycling Federation (PCF) Idrees Haider Khawaja, would start from Peshawar at 8.00am and is estimated to take around six hours to reach its destination, Islamabad.

All the affiliated units of the PCF including Army, Railways, Wapda, Sui Southern Gas Company and the four provinces as well as Fata would be taking part in the competition.

With Punjab, Sindh and Balochistan also holding such contests, there would be at least six national-level cycling competitions in a year, including the national championship and the Rawalpindi to Murree hill station race, which would hopefully help raise the standards of cycling in Pakistan.
