Waqas hits sparkling century

KARACHI, March 19: Teenaged Karachi opener Mohammad Waqas smashed a brilliant century as Pak Saudi International overwhelmed Central Police (South Zone) by 119 runs in the 16th Hinopak Trophy-KCCA Inter-departmental Cricket League at the TMC Ground on Tuesday.

Waqas struck 11 boundaries and a six in his 107 besides taking two wickets for 3 to play central role in his team’s win.

Nadeem Akhtar of Sindh Police also produced superb all-round show but failed to save his team from defeat, claiming five wickets for 59 and then slamming 63 laced with seven boundaries and a six.

In another match held on Tuesday, Medicam Group of Companies overcame Al-Hira Associates by four wickets at the Landhi Gymkhana Ground with winners’ Rizwan Khan and Ali Mudassar sharing six wickets between them.

In matches played on Monday, Pak Saudi International shocked Karachi Port Trust (KPT) by two wickets at the TMC Ground while Dewan Farooq Motors Pvt Ltd outclassed Sindh Police by eight wickets at the KCCA Stadium.
