HYDERABAD, March 28: DPO of Hyderabad Imran Shaukat has taken serious notice of lethargy of operation and investigation police officers in the police head constable torture case.
Constable Ali Hassan Solangi was severely tortured by his captors who had chopped off his hands. Acid was thrown on his face and he was shot at in his thigh.
The DPO is reported to have expressed his annoyance over the indifferent attitude of police officials who are taking the matter lightly.
The DPO held a meeting with supervising police officer Chalgari Ghulam Shabbir Baloch in whose area the Hatri police station is located. The incident was happened in the police station’s jurisdiction.
The DPO was disappointed over the fact that Baloch did not even visit the crime scene and even guard was not provided to the police constable when he was admitted to the hospital.
“SPO Chalgri didn’t even remember the name of police constable when asked by DPO,” said a police source privy to their meeting.
Although a case has been lodged by Hatri police on the complaint of Solangi’s nephew, investigation police made no progress, so far, for the arrests of the accused.
Qasimabad taluka nazim Noor Mohammad Shoro, UC-4 Nazim Deedar Hussain Shoro, his son Jam Khan Shoro and six others are the accused.
The DPO has formed a team which consists of ASP cantonment Asif Iqbal, SPO Chalgari Ghulam Shabbir Baloch and SPO city Khawar Akbar Sheikh to probe the case. They were given 48 hours to show progress.
