Vice Admiral poised to prevail over rivals at Karachi races
By Anwar Zuberi
KARACHI, March 29: Four-year-old bay Vice Admiral who won the last outing hands down is poised to repeat his feat should he overcome at least two form horses — Reyan The Great and Thanks Naeem — in the Gymkhana race meeting at the Karachi Racecourse on Sunday.
Following a couple of dismal runs he picked up his first race of the year last weekend under rider Kashif Qamar who outpaced Gorella by four-and-a-half lengths.
He seems to be in top form and looks smart enough to stretch his winning streak by claiming the supporting event, the sixth race on card to be run over six furlongs.
At least three horses — filly Moomal, chestnut Terrorist and filly Taizper — are in contention for honours in the feature event, the seventh and last race.
The former belongs to the stables of KRC Administrator, Haji Khuda Bux Rajar while the latter two are owned by Shah Mardan Shah Pir Pagara. Whosoever is backed by connections is tipped to reign supreme.
They are likely to be chased by Arab Hi Arab and Voo Doo Doll for the places.
The top division of class VII should see four-year-old chestnut colts Sing Sing and Mr Mention Not fighting for glory. Though both have won their previous outings the former may edge past the latter.
The two should be followed by Sharp Cat.
Filly Jadu Jantar and colt Tube Jee are likely to make amends and present owner Pir Pagara with back-to-back double by dominating third and fourth races.
Either colt Muktadar or mare Royal Loyalty should oblige punters by claiming the opener while mare Silent Love should land the second race.
A card of seven races has been drawn for day’s proceedings. The first race begins at 1.00pm.
