RAWALPINDI, April 1: A local court here on Tuesday awarded 25 years’ imprisonment to a union council nazim and his driver for kidnapping and raping two girls over two years ago.

Additional sessions judge Rana Mohammad Ali ordered the convicts to also pay a fine of Rs50,000 each.

In case of failure, they will have to undergo one year’s extra imprisonment.

Arshad Majeed Chaudhry, counsel for complainant Ali Asghar, the father of one of the victims, told the court that Raja Nadeem Ahmed, the UC nazim of Dhoberan Kalan in Kalar Syedan, and his driver Javed kidnapped the two girls from a house and raped them for many days.

The two cousins went missing from the house of Ali Asghar on the night of September 30, 2005. The elders of the families launched a search and found the girls along with the two men in a car on a road.

However, after seeing the people looking for the girls, the culprits sped away taking the girls along.

The complainant said they pleaded to the nazim for return of the girls but the victims were released after being raped for many days.

Meanwhile, in her statement before a special judicial magistrate, a girl alleged that she was kidnapped by a gang in Waris Khan area on March 27 and was taken to an unidentified place where she was raped.

The father of the girl in an FIR registered on March 29 alleged that her 14-year-old daughter was abducted from Sarfaraz Road when she came out of her house to buy some edibles. The girl alleged that the culprits left her in front of her house the next day.

The medical report issued by the Rawalpindi General Hospital confirmed injury marks on different body parts of the girl while the chemical expert’s report is still awaited.

In another case, a civil judge sent a Gujar Khan Patwari to Adiala jail on a 14 days’ judicial remand in a corruption case.
