LAHORE, April 3: Governor Khalid Maqbool says the government is ready to resolve the disputes causing bitterness in its relations with India for the past 60 years with an open heart.

He was talking to a delegation of the Association of Indian Diplomats, led by former Indian ambassador in Pakistan Ishrat Aziz, which called on him at the Governor’s House here on Thursday.

He said India and Pakistan should make simultaneous efforts for finding a just solution to the Kashmir issue and removing imbalances in bilateral trade.

The governor said President Musharraf had advanced the composite dialogue for friendly relations on an equal terms because the government and people of Pakistan wanted better relations with India.

He said the recent general elections would help promote the politics of moderation because these had been won by parties with a progressive outlook.

Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani and his coalition partners were in favour of close relations with India. The Friendship Bus Service between India and Pakistan had been launched during the tenure of former prime minister Mian Nawaz Sharif.
