KARACHI, April 11: Kazakhstan’s Ruslan Jangazov and Egyptian Ahmed Ragab have enjoyed a firm grip in Laser Radial and Laser 4.7 classes respectively at the inaugural CAS International Open sailing regatta which has reached half way at the PAF Korangi Creek on Friday.

All the sailors have discarded their one bad race at the end of six of the total 11 races.

The Kazakh is leading the eight-boat fleet with 6.0 penalty points while the Egyptian has also maintained his top slot with 5.0 penalty points.

Another Egyptian Mohammad Morsi who was lying second in Optimist Boys on Thursday has now been tied in the top position with Pakistan’s Mustafa securing 7.0 pp apiece. They are followed by Sri Lankan Jishua Hans with 15pp.

Pakistan’s Palwasha who was pushed to third place the other day has surged ahead of all her opponents in Optimist Girls with 6.0pp.

Host country’s M. Yousuf and M. Tanveer are leading in Laser Standard and Mistral respectively.

Three races in all the classes will be sailed on Friday.

Optimist Girls:

Laser Radial:

1-Ruslan Jangazov (Kaz) pp 6.0, 2-Athar Sultan (Pak) pp 10.0, 3- Sajjad Abbasi (Pak) pp 15.0

Laser 4.7:

1-Ahmed Ragab (Egy) pp 5.0, 2-Shazli Tahir (Pak) pp 9.0, 3-Junaid Ahmed (Pak) pp 15.0

Laser Standard:

1-M. Yousuf (Pak) pp 6.0, 2-Ishfaq Iqbal (Pak) pp 8.0, 3-Wilayat Ali (Pak) pp 16.0

Mistral:
