RAWALPINDI, April 23: The Punjab government on Wednesday lifted ban on appointments across the province after various government departments and municipal services suffered heavily due to the inordinate delay in lifting of the ban.
The new orders have been issued to all the districts, and the concerned administrations have been told to make appointments on the vacant posts.
DCO Rawalpindi Irfan Elahi told Dawn that the ban had been lifted, adding thousands of posts were lying vacant in various government institutions in the city causing multiple problems.
Various educational institutions including colleges, universities, schools and civic agencies like Water and Sanitation Agency (Wasa), Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA), Rawalpindi Environment Improvement Project (REIP) and town municipal administrations are short of about 4,000 staff.—Our Reporter
