FAISALABAD, April 26: The University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF) will sell certified wheat seeds with its own brand for high yield to facilitate farmers.
UAF vice-chancellor Dr Iqrar Ahmed stated this while inaugurating the wheat-harvesting campaign at university's research area on Saturday.
He asked the agriculture scientists to step forward with development of cheapest and practicable new technologies for farming community.
He said being an institution of higher learning, the university would have to play a vital role for the promotion of agricultural technological advancements in the country.
Dr Iqrar said the university was planning establishment of a permanent exhibition centre so that the farming community could be benefitted through novel technologies.
Spelling out the performance of the university farms, director (farms) Dr Ehsanullah said wheat had been cultivated at 700 acre land at university fields and the crop on 50 acre reserved for seed.
He said the reserved seed was certified and checked by the authorities, declaring its standard high. He said seed grading and relevant technology would be introduced at the institution to boost up the activities of seed development.
