KARACHI, April 26: Pakistan cueists needed to keep their basics right during the upcoming 24th National snooker championship, starting in Dubai from May 3, coach Bilal Mughal said on Saturday.

“For success in any event you must not forget the basics, no matter how great a player you are,” the coach said at Karachi Club’s Amir Bakhsh Hall, where the Pakistan Billiards and Snooker Association (PBSA) is holding a six-day training camp to prepare Saleh Mohammad, Khurram Agha and Mohammad Sajjad Rana for the event.

“Both Saleh and Khurram are experienced and gifted players but I see basic problems in their game,” Bilal Mughal said.

He added Saleh lost the grip of the cue while striking the ball and he was helping him to overcome the problem.

About Khurram, the coach said he was trying to improve his overall technique, tactic and psychology besides making him more focused on the game.

He expressed hope that the cueists would reach the top in the championship.

“I know, Chinese and Thais are the best in the continent but this time Pakistan would offer them a great challenge,” he maintained.—APP
