Fire damages phone network

LARKANA, April 30: Over 500 telephones lines in the industrial area and its vicinity went out of order after an underground cable near Mirokhan road caught fire on Wednesday.

According to PTCL sources, fire broke out in the manhole as someone threw a burning cigarette inside it. The manhole contained gas and phone line which immediately caught fire.

As a result, communication network got disconnected in the areas including the industrial area, central prison and Mirokhan chowk.

As a result of fire, primary underground cable were damaged which rendered the secondary pairs ineffective, sources said. PTCL engineers and technicians immediately began restoration of lines on war footing.
