HYDERABAD, May 3: The Water and Sanitation Agency (Wasa) has procured three new heavy-duty generators to keep running filter plants for uninterrupted water supply to consumers during power load-shedding.

Managing Director Wasa, Mohammad Basheer Awan purchased generators on the order of District Nazim, Kanwar Naveed Jamil. These had been installed at the new filter plant Jamshoro, Hala Naka Water Works and In-Take Works near new filter plant on Saturday. Complaints of unavailability of drinking water due to frequent power failures had been mounting of which the District Nazim took serious notice and ordered procurement of generators.

The generators will commence operation from Monday with ensured and uninterrupted water supply. Light generators were already installed at the three filter plants but due to their low capacity, requirements of consumers, especially during summers could not be met.

RESULT: The University of Sindh has announced the result of aptitude test conducted for the admission to four-month certificate course in Music Programme during 2008 and also displayed the result on notice board of the Centre for Music Education at the Institute of Sindhology, University of Sindh on Saturday.

Successful candidates had been advised to deposit admission fee through bank challan from May 5 to 10. The candidates had further been advised to bring their original marks and pass certificates and transcripts at the time of obtaining challan and depositing admission fee at the HBL Jamshoro branch.

MEDICAL ALLOWANCE: The Registrar, University of Sindh Jamshoro, Mohammad Saleh Rajar has issued a notification on Saturday in the light of the decision of Syndicate meeting held on April 22, regarding enhancement of medical allowance from Rs1,000 to Rs2,000 of all employees from BPS-1 to BPS 22.

The decision will be implemented with effect from April 22, 2008, as notified by the university.

SYNDICATE MEMBERS: The University of Sindh has notified the names of new Syndicate members among university teachers through election held on April 30.

According to the notification issued by Registrar and Election Officer, Mohammad Saleh Rajar, here on Saturday, Dr Anwar Ali Shah G. Syed, Professor Institute of Business Administration had been elected on the seat of professors, while Syed Abdul Ghaffar Shah Rashidi of Institute of Botany on the seat of associate professors, Khalid Noor Panhwar of Department of Public Administration on the seat of assistant professors and Intizar Ali Lashari of IBA on the seat of lecturers.
