SUKKUR, May 8: The Sukkur Chamber of Commerce and Industry has condemned recent increase in train fares and demanded withdrawal of the increase.

The chamber president, Shakeel Ahmed Mukhtiar, said in a press release that recently the caretaker government had increased the fares by five per cent and now the elected government had increased the fares for passengers by 10 per cent and for goods by 15 per cent, which was annoying for already overburdened people.

He called on Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani and Federal Railways Minister Sardar Mehtab Ahmed Khan to review the decision and order withdrawal of the increase in the fares.
