HYDERABAD, June 3: First semester examinations in all teaching institutes and departments began at the University of Sindh on Tuesday in morning and evening shifts in a peaceful manner under strict security.
Due to a threat from a students’ group, a full security cover was provided to university buses plying from Hyderabad to Jamshoro by Hyderabad city police.
Strict security was observed at the university examination centres and main entrances of the campus.
The vice chancellor of the university, Mazharul Haq Siddiqui on Tuesday paid visits to several examination centres on the campus to inspect arrangements. Registrar of the university Mohammad Saleh Rajar, Controller of Examinations Dr Pervez Pathan accompanied the vice chancellor.
The vice chancellor in the light of complaints received from some students, also visited seminar library of IBA to inspect the facilities there. He directed the IBA management to take steps for providing electricity and other facilities for students.
Meanwhile, a meeting was convened by the DIG of Hyderabad at DPO office Jamshoro late on Monday to review the security arrangements for the examinations.
The meeting was attended by the registrar of university, the DPO of Jamshoro, the SP Hyderabad city and other officials.
In the light of decisions at the meeting, police squad was provided to student buses. Two policemen accompanied every university bus.
