SUKKUR, June 3: Seven people, including a doctor and his wife, were kidnapped from different parts of upper Sindh on Tuesday.

Armed men raided the house of Dr Jawed Soomro in Islam Colony in the New Pind area of Sukkur and after overpowering inmates at gunpoint kidnapped Dr Soomro and his wife Sumaiya.

No case was registered till the filing of the report.

According to area people, last year Dr Soomro’s nephew Mohammad Ismail and Saira Jatoi had married of their own choice which sparked enmity between their families and resulted in the kidnapping of doctor and his wife.

In Shikarpur district, three people along with their car were kidnapped by highwaymen from near Waziarabad turn on Shikarpur Shikarpur-Sukkur Road in Lakhi area. The names and destination could not be ascertained, said sources in police.

Police went after them in Katcha area with the help of tracker installed in the car.

In Jacobabad, two people were kidnapped by eight armed men in the limits of Abad police station in the district on Monday.

Reports said eight armed men kidnapped Ali Nawaz Abro, a watchman of a mobile tower near village Garhi Chand.

They also kidnapped Sikandar Junejo who was working in an agriculture field.Police’s effort to follow the kidnappers proved unsuccessful.
