QUETTA, June 4: Nine prisoners who had completed their sentence were released on Wednesday after fines imposed on them by courts were paid by the federal government.
“The prisoners were not released because they had not paid fines,” deputy inspector general of the prison department Mohammad Akbar Lashari told newsmen. He said the department had sent a list of such prisoners to the federal government and the federal government paid up to Rs50,000 for each prisoner to the provincial government.
