LAHORE, June 6: Police claimed on Friday to have killed a proclaimed offender in an encounter at Lorry Adda early in the morning.

CIA SP Umar Virk arrested a suspect, Waqas, in connection with a case of cab lifting in Chuhng a couple of days ago and injuring the driver. The robber allegedly run over and killed a man and his son standing along the roadside, according to a handout.

During interrogation, Waqas confessed that he and another PO, Sajid, were involved in the incident.

He informed the police that Sajid was hiding at a Lorry Adda place.

The police raided Sajid’s hideout and shot him while firing in response to his opening fire. A pistol, 10 bullets and Rs7,000 in cash were recovered from the crime scene.

The police said Sajid was involved in a number of crimes in Chishtian tehsil.

GIRL RESCUED: Three traffic wardens on Friday rescued a minor girl from ‘robbers’ at Model Town.

Aneesa Akhtar, a resident of G-Block, was going by car along with her minor daughter when two men stopped her at gunpoint near the market of the block and took away her car along with her daughter.

The woman raised an alarm in response to which three traffic wardens rounded them up after a chase at Model Town. One of the culprits surrendered while the other managed to flee.

Later, the CCPO called the traffic wardens at his office and appreciated them, besides giving away cash reward.
