These bikes were being smuggled to Balochistan, lower Sindh and NWFP, he said.

The official said that Balach Jatoi, a notorious extortionist in the city who had created terror in traders’ community had also also picked. He also claimed solving the case of murder of Dr Dharmo Mal who was killed near MCB Lahori Mohalla while depositing money.

Sarmad Tunio who led the robbers’ gang was arrested while two others identified as Safdar Khokhar and Hubdar Lashari had gone underground, he said.

The ASP disclosed that the Writing Head Constables ( Mohrrars) of police stations in the district had been tasked, in light of instructions of provincial police officer to update current lists of criminals within three months.
