HYDERABAD, June 13 Protests continued against power loadshedding, water shortage, and accumulation of drain water on roads on Friday in many city areas. Protesters lit bonfires and blocked roads to condemn the tepid attitude of civic bodies and Hesco.

Protest demonstrations and sit-ins were staged in Naseem Nagar, Qasimabad, Makrani Para off Auto Bhan Road, Sarfaraz Chari and Latifabad Unit-11.

A common complaint of protesters was that they were badly hit by Hesco loadshedding which takes away with it water supply and subsequently accumulation of sewage water.

Residents in Makrani Para protested against the accumulation of sewage. Managing Director Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) Bashir Awan also admitted that sewage had accumulated in the area due to some problem which was now being addressed.

Other protests and sit-ins pertained to loadshedding in Latifabad-11, Naseem Nagar and Sarfaraz In-Cline. Residents said that their localities were badly hit by loadshedding and water supply.

Our Sanghar correspondent adds: There is no respite in electricity loadshedding in the district where people brave more than 12 hours of power shutdown almost on daily basis.

Power goes off after each hour and this timetable is pursued even during nights. The villages and small towns like Jhol, Khadro, Sinjhoro, Shahpur Chakar, Jafar Khan Laghari, Naobab and Bobi are the worst hit areas.
