DUBLIN, June 13: Pakistan came out of the jaws of defeat in their second match in the Four-nation hockey tournament to earn a respectable 3-3 draw against Great Britain at the University of Dublin College Stadium on Thursday evening.

In an exhibition of classic hockey and never say die fighting approach, the green shirts rocked Great Britain by scoring three goals in just 17 minutes after conceding 3-0 lead under overcast and windy conditions.

Pakistan’s misery started in the 10th minute when Richard Mantell placed the ball with a calculated push in the nets off the first corner of their five short corners.

The touring side conceded another goal in the 21st minute when Richard Alexander scored off the second short corner.

In the 23rd minute, Britain made it 3-0 off the fourth penalty corner as Ashely Jackon’s flying push landed in the upper part of the post.

Pakistan’s first goal was scored by Abbas Haider off Mohammad Saqlain’s pass in the 43rd minute.

Six minutes later Saqlain scored the second goal off a penalty stroke which Pakistan earned while forcing their third and last short corner.

Pakistan finally equalised the score through Mohammad Zubair’s field goal in the 59th minute.

In another match of the day, Ireland played a 3-3 draw against Canada.—APP
