Fahim calls on Pagara

Published July 1, 2008

KARACHI, June 30: Pakistan People’s Party’s senior vice-chairman Makhdoom Amin Fahim met Pir Pagara at his residence here on Monday.

The meeting lasted about one hour and a half, people close to Pir Pagara told Dawn.

Political analysts termed the meeting significant particularly because of Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani’s presence in Karachi.

People handling public relations at the Kingri House usually inform the press corps ahead of such meetings, but this time media personnel were kept in the dark. Makhdoom Amin Fahim also did not inform the media about the meeting.

Sources said the meeting was significant following Mr Fahim’s statement on Sunday in Hyderabad that the PPP affairs were being run by a new party cadre and his criticism that the government was concentrating on issues like the president’s impeachment and restoration of judges, instead of paying attention to people’s problems.
