LAHORE, July 2: Locals foiled an attempt to ‘kidnap’ a five-year-old boy by his father near PAF Market in South Cantonment police precincts on Wednesday.

The police said that a case regarding custody of five-year-old Uzair between his parents was already pending in a guardian court.

Uzair’s maternal grandfather Air Vice Marshal Hamid Khawaja (retired) complained to the police that his daughter Maryam Khawaja was leaving a shop in the PAF Market along with her son Uzair when her husband Imtiaz Ali Khan of Falcon Housing Society, Behram Ali Khan and their unidentified accomplices approached them.

They had an argument with Maryam followed by an attempt to snatch the boy but on her raising alarm, locals gathered on the spot as a result of which the kidnappers managed to escape.

The police said that since a custody case was already in a court, there was no possibility of registration of an FIR. arrested: The Ravi Road police claimed on Wednesday to have arrested three members of a gang and recovered 10 cell phones besides illegal weapons from their possession.

A team, constituted by the City division SP, nabbed ringleader Qamar Abbas and accomplices Ilyas and Shafqat from Ali Park.

The accused, who confessed to committing more than 13 crimes of house and highway robbery, had shot at and injured Sharif in a street crime incident some three weeks ago in the Ravi Road area.
