KASUR, July 3: Phoolnagar police on Thursday booked a sub-inspector, along with seven accused men who were already in custody, in a case for attempting rape of a complainant inside the city police station.

Reports said Zubaida Bibi of Daleep Singh village had come to police station to pursue a case (No 156/008) she had got registered against Liaqat, Farmish, Ghafoor, Yaseen, Aslam, Zubair and Akram. The police had taken all accused in custody.

On Thursday, when the complainant came to the police station, the investigation officer Yaseen made her wait till evening on one pretext or another. Later, when most of the officials left the police station, the SI took her in his room and attempted to rape her. She raised hue and cry and somehow managed to get out of the SI’s room. At this, the annoyed policeman ordered the seven accused to rape Zubaida Bibi. As they were about to obey the command of the SI, SHO Sardar Afzal Dogar reached and inquired about the matter. On being informed of the incident, the SHO booked SI and others.

Meanwhile, the accused SI managed to ‘escape’ from the police station. — Correspondent
