ISLAMABAD, July 10: Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani said on Thursday that Pakistan would not support any move likely to increase the temperature in hotspots of the world because that could lead to destabilisation in the region.

He was answering a question about the testing of missiles by Iran during a meeting with media personnel onboard the aircraft bringing him back home from Dubai.

Mr Gilani said he and his colleagues had met in Dubai informally and there was no cause for concern for his government because it enjoyed the support of all coalition partners.

“We belong to different political parties with our own vision and programme but we are united in our resolve to make democracy work in Pakistan. I call it diversity in unity.”

He confirmed that the cabinet would be reshuffled and expanded soon in order to facilitate implementation of government policies.

About the possibility of President Pervez Musharraf’s impeachment, he said: “It is up to the parties sitting in parliament to decide what they want to do.

As head of the democratic government I am not in a position to comment on that, especially when the president has reiterated many times that he accepts the supremacy of parliament and is ready to accept its decisions.”

The premier said that all countries in the region needed to support each other so that the problem of terrorism could be solved.
