GUJRANWALA, July 21: A court on Monday slapped Rs0.4 million fine on each of the 28 people deported by Turkish authorities and arrested by the Federal Investigation Agency on their return.
The deportees who were arrested by FIA from Islamabad airport included a 10-year-old boy, Zeshan, of Kunja village, Gujrat, whose mother had reportedly paid Rs0.6 million to the agent to send the boy to Greece via Turkey, said FIA Additional Director Hussain Asgher.
However, the group was nabbed by the Turkish border authorities and deported back to Pakistan. Zeshan told journalists they were arrested before crossing into Greece in the dark of the night and were detained by Turkish border security.
The FIA questioned the deportees about the agents who had taken huge amounts from them to send them to greener pastures.
Later they were produced in a court which fined them.
FIA SHO Mian Sabir said the accused human agents would be arrested soon.
INJURED: As many six workers were injured when a gas cylinder exploded in a factory near Sadhoki on the GT Road on Monday.
Report reaching here said the cylinder exploded in a foam manufacturing factory resulting in severe injuries to Jamshed, Iqbal, Nasim, Imran, Rafiq and Boota.
The injured were rushed to the local DHQ hospital where they were said to be out of danger.
LOOTED: Robbers looted car riders at Pindi bypass intersection and decamped with Rs1.8 million in cash on Monday.
Irfan of Wazirabad was on his way along with his friends to purchase a tractor-trolley from Gujranwala when two robbers riding a motorcycle intercepted them. They snatched bag containing cash and escaped.
Aroop police have registered a case against unidentified accused.
