LAHORE, July 30: Two-day trials to select a Punjab women’s soccer team for next month’s 4th National Women’s Football Championship will be held here at the Punjab Stadium from Aug 4.

Punjab has the honour of winning the first episode of the national event four years ago. Wapda clinched the second in 2006, followed by Sports Sciences Lahore’s triumph last year.

Thirty-five footballers, after the conclusion of the tournament, will be selected to undergo a national training camp in preparation for the 17th Women’s Asian championship in 2010.

The national event will be held in Islamabad from Aug 20.
