SANGHAR, Aug 8: A case was registered against a landlord and five other people for marrying off two minor girls to settle a dispute caused by their father eloping with a young girl.

The father of the minor girls, Asghar Ali Magsi, had run away with a girl of Chandio clan and got married.

Father of the Chandio girl and Asghar tilled the land of landlord Hassan Magsi. The incident infuriated the landlord who summoned the elders of Magsi and Chandio clans.

The elders decided to hand over two minor daughters of Asghar, aged nine and three years, to Chandio clan to be married to relatives of the girl.

The minor girls were handed over to the clan people who soon moved to katcha area near Larkana. Their whereabouts were not known.

The mother of the girls protested but the landlord forced her to keep quite, but when the matter reached the media, he assured her that he would get back her daughters. But this has not happened.

The mother then submitted an application to the DPO and finally appeared before the civil judge and judicial magistrate of Shahdadpur, seeking help.

The judge ordered police to register a case. Finally Sarhari police registered the case on Thursday against the landlord Hassan Magsi, Asad Magsi, their estate manager Liaquat, Ghulam Nabi Chandio, Sikandar Chandio and Ghulam Rasool Chandio.

The complainant in the case is the mother of minor girls. She has also alleged that the landlord took away a pair of bullock and eight goats.
