HYDERABAD, Aug 10: The Pakistan Peace Coalition on Sunday warned Gen Pervez Musharraf against exercising powers vested in the office of the president under Article 58(2)B of the Constitution because the people would not accept it.

The committee at a meeting welcomed the decision of the ruling coalition parties to initiate impeachment process against Musharraf and said that in case of a misadventure, people should actively resist and defeat such an attempt.

Adam Malik who presided over the meeting said that the ruling coalition reflected true sentiments of the people expressed in the form of vote in Feb 18 general elections.

The meeting called upon the members of parliament and assemblies to show respect to democratic aspirations of people and vote for impeachment regardless of party affiliation.

The meeting called upon the ruling coalition to expedite the impeachment process and reverse all the unconstitutional and illegal decisions taken by “the dictator” on, after or before Nov 3, 2007, including the ouster of all the judges of the superior judiciary.
