KARACHI, Aug 15: The Anti-Terrorism Court-II on Friday deferred pronouncement of its judgment in a murder case for a day.
The court, headed by Abdul Ghafoor Memon, had reserved the judgment on Aug 8 after recording final arguments of the prosecution and defence. It was to pronounce the judgment on Friday but could not do so because of a power breakdown.
The case pertained to the murder of Kamal, 21, son of Abdul Haq, allegedly by Abul Kalam and his son, Abdul Razzaq, in complicity with their relative, Mahajil Hussain. The North Nazimabad police had found the youth’s body dumped near the Premier College on Feb 14. The deceased was identified the next day and after initial investigations, the police arrested Abul Kalam and his son. Mahajil, however, absconded.
According to the charge-sheet of the case, Kamal was keen to marry Abul Kalam’s daughter but the latter and his other family members did not like the proposal. It alleged that Kamal was killed by the accused on Feb 13 and his body was dumped near the college.
