Toppers of the Intermediate Science (Pre-medical) group examination on Wednesday bitterly criticised the KESC making their studies extremely difficult by providing no relief in its excessive load-shedding during their examination.

“Our performance in the examination was badly affected owing to the prolonged and frequent load-shedding and breakdowns. In fact, we would have done much better, otherwise,” they said while talking to newsmen at a ceremony held here on Wednesday to announce the results.

They were of the view that the Dow University of Health Sciences should conduct the entry test for admission to the DMC and SMC only after completion of the HSC Science (Pre-medical) group examinations. Ailiya Rizvi said her studies during examination were affected by traffic problems in the city, besides disruption in power supply.

She was of the opinion that the credit of a student’s excellent performance should not go to his/her institution alone. “Sometimes it is the institution that plays a vital role in inculcating positive traits in students and sometimes it is the students themselves who work hard and study with devotion to gain knowledge,” she argued. Ms Rizvi says she studies for eight hours as a daily routine.

Anam Hareem expressed her views on the role of coaching centres in helping students do better in examinations. “There is no harm in joining coaching centres because it has been observed that students of the colleges offering proper and regular academic activities also take tuitions and shine in the examinations.”

Mohammad Danish Saleem said that after doing his O’levels, he preferred to join the intermediate system stream because being a local system, it allowed students to understand values of their own society.

A student of a private college, Danish feels that private colleges usually provide a better environment to their students as compared to government colleges.
