TOBA TEK SINGH, Sept 1: Farmers and activists of Kissan Board took out a rally on Monday in protest against the non-availability of fertilisers in the district. The rally began from the grain market and after marching on Shorkot Road terminated at railway level crossing. The protesters staged sit in on railway track for half an hour and burnt tyres at Clock Tower Chowk.

FARMING FOR MONEY: Multi-agriculture farming was a great source of income for farmers, said Agriculture EDO Dr Mian Shafiq Muhammad while addressing farmers at a hub centre at Chak 255-GB. He said those who started simultaneously farming, dairy farming, poultry farming and fish farming could earn more money then those who just cultivated lands.

The Valiant Social Welfare Organisation arranged a seminar, ‘Effects of cleanliness on environment. Speakers urged the participants to keep their surroundings clean.

MEDICAL FACILITY: A centre to treat liver patients will be set up at the District Headquarters hospital for hepatitis patients, said Faisalabad liver centre chairman Dr Zahid Yaseen Hashmi at a press conference on Monday. He said a non-government organisation with the help of an industrial group and other philanthropists would build the centre.

He claimed the Faisalabad liver centre, the only facility of its kind in the country, was catering to needs of patients from all over Pakistan. He said most of the patients from Balochistan and the NWFP were suffering from Hepatitis B.

He claimed that 30 per cent people over the world were suffering from hepatitis. He said there were precautionary vaccines for Hepatitis B but no such a vaccines were available for Hepatitis C.

A free testing lab camp was set up on the occasion by two medicine companies where more than 1,000 people were screened for hepatitis.

FLOUR MILLS: All 12 flour mills in the district are functioning as peroutine, said District Food Controller Chaudhry Muhammad Tofique. He said these mills obtained wheat quota from the food department and supplied flour bags to the market and 17 fair price shops.

CASE: Pirmahal police registered a case against former naib nazim Abdul Shakoor, of Chak 674/15-GB for attacking health department officials. The district drug inspector and other officials raided the clinic of Shakoor and seized veterinary injections from him. Shakoor allegedly snatched documents from the team and also tortured them.
