US to sell $7bn missile system to UAE

WASHINGTON, Sept 10: The Pentagon has proposed the sale of an advanced US missile defence system valued at up to $7 billion to the United Arab Emirates, the Pentagon said in a statement released on Wednesday.

The so-called Terminal High Altitude Area Defence, or THAAD, which is built by Lockheed Martin Corp of the United States with a system radar from Raytheon Co, could be used for possible defence against Iran.—Reuters
