ISLAMABAD, Sept 13: Leader of the House in Senate Mian Raza Rabbani on Saturday met Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani to convey the anguish of parliament over the increasing US intrusions into Pakistani territory and stressed the need for taking lawmakers into confidence about the official stand on the issue.

Both the National Assembly and Senate have adopted identical resolutions, condemning the American incursions in the strongest terms and asked the government to take measures to prevent any more losses of life and property in the border areas.

The issue of formation of the parliamentary caucus on Pakistan-India dialogue on Kashmir issue, expected to hold its inaugural meeting next week, was also discussed.

The caucus will include all political groups inside and outside the two houses of parliament.

According to the sources privy to the meeting that took place at the PM House, Mr Rabbani told the prime minister that the incursions were creating fear and uncertainty among people.

They said Mr Rabbani also discussed with the prime minister various aspects of the president’s address to the joint sitting of parliament, adding that the president would focus on national reconciliation.

The prime minister said that the election of the leader of the country’s major political party as president had strengthened democratic institutions.

The prime minister said that the president has been advised to address the joint session of parliament at 3pm on Sept 20.
