NAUSHAHRO FEROZE, Sept 13: Visually impaired Mohammad Aslam Sehto, his wife and three children staged a demonstration and observed a token hunger strike outside the press club on Saturday in protest against Mithiani investigation police.
Mohammad Aslam told journalists that four armed men forced into his house in Mithiani, looted Rs8,000 cash after subjecting his wife to torture to force them to vacate the house.
He said that he had lodged an FIR at Mithiani police station against Sikandar Ali, Zahid, Aijaz Sehto and another unidentified man. Police arrested Zahid but let him go later after taking bribe, he alleged.
The accused again came to him and forcibly ejected his family from the house. He said he had also submitted an application to the district and sessions judge Naushahro Feroze to seek justice.
He said that he would continue hunger strike till he got justice.
DPO Nisar Ahmed Channa said that he had formed a committee headed by Naushahro Feroze SPO Syed Hubdar Ali Shah to probe the matter and submit a report.
He said that the complainant and the accused were relatives and the ASI of Mithiani police Akbar Mangi who had lodged the FIR without SHO’s permission had been suspended.
DEMO: Activists of Sindh Rural Doctors Forum held a demonstration outside the Moro press club on Saturday, demanding payment of rural allowance and increase in salary.
The protesters led by Dr Ghulam Sarwar Bughio, Dr Abdul Fateh Balal, Dr Abdul Rasheed Memon and Dr Ghulam Sarwar Khaskheli said that they had been working in rural areas for 16 years but they were not getting the increased salary according to the outgoing government’s announcement.
They said that former Sindh Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim had announced that rural allowance would be paid to doctors working in rural areas but they had not been paid the allowance since the announcement. They demanded payment of rural allowance and increase in salary in accordance with service structure.
