NEW YORK, Sept 18: Republican vice-presidential nominee Sarah Palin was likely to participate in an anti-Iran protest outside the United Nations on Monday, her campaign announced on Wednesday.

However, Senator Hillary Clinton who also was expected to participate in the protest has cancelled her appearance.

“Her Palin’s attendance was news to us, and this was never billed to us as a partisan political event,” a spokesman for Mrs Clinton, said on Wednesday. “Senator Clinton will therefore not be attending.”

Ms Palin is being listed as part of a US delegation to meet world leaders in a move to introduce her to world community.

However, it is not clear which world leaders Ms Palin would meet.

Besides the protest rally, Ms Palin’s planned United Nations meetings are intended to heighten her foreign policy credentials.
