Teachers seek eight months’ salary

DADU, Sept 19: A large number of primary and high school teachers staged demonstration outside the press club here on Friday to protest against non-payment of salaries to 301 teachers for the last 8 months.

They were led by teachers, Zubair Ahmed Panhwar, Mumtaz Tariq Soomro and Yaseen Channa.

Tariq Soomro said that these primary and higher school teachers, appointed in 1998, were terminated after six months. He said that these teachers were reinstated by the education minister of Sindh, Pir Mazharul Haq. He said that teachers were performing their duties at different schools but they were denied of their salaries for the last 8 months. Yaseen Channa warned that if their salaries were not paid to them, they would continue their protest.

Later, they also observed a token hunger strike outside press club.

RAIDS: EDO Revenue Dadu and special magistrate, Qamaruddin Memon, conducted raids at restaurants and arrested Mazhar Charan, Rajib Memon, Warial Chandio and fined Rs5,000 for running their business during fasting hours. He also raided fruit market and fined Rs7,000 on fruit sellers Abdul Sattar Leghari, Mumtaz Mallah for overcharging.
